
Massive Fire Engulfs Event Warehouse in South Delhi, No Casualties Reported
A massive fire erupted at a warehouse storing event management equipment in Swaroop Colony, Fatehpur Beri , in South Delhi on Sunday morning, triggering an extensive firefighting operation. Officials confirmed that no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received an emergency call at 6:43 am and immediately dispatched fire engines to the site. As the intensity of the blaze increased, additional firefighting units were mobilised, with around 15 fire tenders , Delhi Police personnel and CATS ambulance teams joining the rescue effort.
According to fire officials, the flames rapidly spread through the tin-roofed warehouse , which housed materials used for event management, before reaching a nearby building. Firefighters worked for several hours to stop the fire from spreading further and to safeguard surrounding residential structures.
Assistant Divisional Officer Rajesh Kumar Shukla said the incident was categorised as a Category 4 fire due to its severity. He added that the blaze has since been brought under control , while cooling operations are continuing to extinguish any remaining hotspots and eliminate the risk of reignition.
Authorities said the exact cause of the fire remains unknown and will be determined after a detailed investigation. Officials are also expected to assess the extent of damage to the warehouse and adjoining property once the area is declared safe for inspection.
The incident created panic among residents in the locality as thick plumes of smoke billowed into the sky. However, the swift response by emergency services ensured the fire was contained before it could spread further. Officials reiterated that no casualties have been reported , and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
