Massive Fire at Shahdara MCD Parking Lot Guts 10 Cars, Two Scooters

A massive fire broke out at an MCD parking lot in Delhi’s Shahdara area on Friday evening, gutting at least 10 cars and two scooters , officials said. No casualties were reported in the incident.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) , a distress call was received at 4:57 pm , following which four fire tenders were rushed to the parking site located in Bihari Colony in East Delhi .

Officials said thick black smoke engulfed the area as the blaze rapidly spread from one parked vehicle to another, triggering panic among local residents and passersby. Firefighters carried out sustained operations to bring the flames under control while police cordoned off the area to keep onlookers away and facilitate rescue efforts.

“A minimum of 10 cars and two scooters were completely gutted in the fire. Cooling operations continued till late evening to prevent any fresh flare-up,” a DFS official said.

Several videos of the incident surfaced on social media, showing vehicles engulfed in flames and dense smoke billowing from the parking lot. Loud crackling sounds could also be heard as the fire consumed the vehicles.

Police officials said the blaze was eventually brought under control after coordinated efforts by fire personnel. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire.

Officials said a detailed inspection of the site would be conducted after the cooling process is completed to ascertain the origin of the blaze and assess the extent of the damage.
