'Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday' Gets Fans Talking as Doctor Doom Leads Multiverse Showdown

Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is once again dominating fan conversations as the Marvel Cinematic Universe heads into another major promotional weekend, with the D23 Expo adding to anticipation surrounding one of the studio’s biggest films yet.

The excitement comes after Marvel released the film’s first full-length trailer publicly on July 20, giving audiences their clearest look yet at the sprawling superhero event. The trailer confirmed Robert Downey Jr. in a radically different MCU role as Doctor Doom, marking his return to the franchise after his iconic run as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Rather than bringing back Iron Man, Downey plays Victor von Doom, the formidable villain at the centre of the film’s multiversal conflict. The story brings together heroes and characters from different corners of the Marvel universe, setting the stage for a crossover on a scale not seen since Avengers: Endgame.

The ensemble includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and members of the Fantastic Four and X-Men, among several other returning and new characters.

The Russo Brothers, Anthony and Joe Russo, are directing the film, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige overseeing the project. The movie is expected to play a crucial role in the MCU’s ongoing Multiverse Saga, bringing characters from different realities together against Doom.
