
Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio team up for “What Happens at Night” adaptation
Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese and superstar Leonardo DiCaprio are set to collaborate on the feature film adaptation of Peter Cameron’s acclaimed novel, What Happens at Night . Apple Original Films is in talks to finance and produce the project with Studiocanal, which acquired the rights in 2023. The screenplay will be adapted by Patrick Marber, Oscar-nominated writer of Notes on a Scandal .
The story follows an American couple who travel to a remote, snow-covered European town to adopt a baby. At a vast, nearly deserted hotel, they encounter mysterious characters—a flamboyant chanteuse, a corrupt businessman, and a magnetic faith healer—testing their sense of reality as they fight to secure their child.
The film will also reunite DiCaprio with Jennifer Lawrence after Don’t Look Up (2021). Scorsese and DiCaprio, whose collaborations include The Departed , Shutter Island , and Killers of the Flower Moon , are also developing The Devil in the White City .
