Market Yard Cold Storage to Boost Farmer Profits, Says MLA Surendrababu

Kalyandurg MLA Amilineni Surendrababu has announced that a cold storage facility will be established at the town’s agricultural market yard , aimed at providing better support to farmers and traders . He stated that the facility is expected to be ready by the next tamarind season , allowing local producers and merchants to safely store their produce .

On Friday, the MLA inspected the tamarind trading operations at the market yard, accompanied by Market Yard Chairperson Gollu Lakshmidevi Ramesh , local leaders, and traders. During the visit, he interacted with farmers to assess current market prices , check whether they were receiving fair returns, and understand labor and transportation expenses.

He also visited market shops to discuss with traders the quantity and quality of tamarind arrivals. Traders emphasized the importance of a cold storage facility to preserve the produce’s color and maintain stable prices for up to three months. Responding to this, Surendrababu confirmed that the proposal is already under government review and assured that the facility would be operational before the upcoming season.

The MLA later visited the vegetable market , speaking with traders and discussing future improvements. He pledged to develop a modern vegetable market with all essential amenities to benefit farmers, traders, and consumers. Additionally, he promised to enhance infrastructure in the market yard to ensure smooth business operations.
