Margani Bharat Ram Accuses Coalition Government Of Neglecting Women’s Welfare

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) national spokesperson and former Rajamahendravaram MP Margani Bharat Ram accused the Andhra Pradesh coalition government of neglecting women’s welfare and failing to fulfil several promises made to the public.

Speaking at a mass Seemantham ceremony for 300 pregnant women at VV Gardens near Natraj Theatre in Rajamahendravaram on Friday, Bharat Ram distributed protein kits, sarees, turmeric, kumkum and bangles. He said such initiatives were aimed at supporting the health and well-being of both mothers and children.

Bharat Ram recalled that the previous government, led by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, had given priority to women-centric welfare programmes during its five-year tenure. He alleged that the coalition government had come to power on a series of promises under its ‘Super Six’ agenda, but was now failing to implement them fully.

He claimed that the Amma Vodi scheme had been renamed ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ and restricted to fewer beneficiaries. He also alleged that the coalition government had promised three free LPG cylinders annually but was providing only one.

The former MP also raised the issue of house sites for poor families in Rajamahendravaram. He said the previous YSRCP government had released ₹300 crore during his tenure for purchasing land to provide house sites to nearly 25,000 families. According to him, land was purchased from farmers and payments were completed, but the distribution process was stalled after the election code came into force during the layout stage.

Responding to claims by coalition leaders that the documents were worthless, Bharat Ram challenged them to approach the High Court and file cases against him and Jagan if they believed there had been any wrongdoing.

He stressed that welfare programmes should continue despite changes in government and urged the ruling administration to honour its commitments to the poor.

Bharat Ram also alleged that development works undertaken during the YSRCP regime in Rajamahendravaram were being weakened. He appealed to people to support YSRCP candidates in the upcoming local body elections.
