Manu Bhaker, Simranpreet bag gold at National Shooting Championships

India’s shooting star Manu Bhaker once again proved her class, bagging gold in the senior women’s 25m pistol event at the National Shooting Championship Competitions on Monday, while Simranpreet Kaur Brar claimed the junior women’s title with another commanding performance .

Double Olympic bronze medallist Manu shot an impressive 36 in the final to finish comfortably ahead of the field. She secured the top spot with a four point margin over Divya T.S. of Karnataka , who settled for silver with 32 points . Anjali Choudhary completed the podium, while Olympian Rhythm Sangwan finished fourth.

The qualification round saw stiff competition, with Divya topping the table at 587 , while Manu qualified fourth with 581 , setting up a tightly contested final.

In the junior women’s category, 21 year old Simranpreet continued her fine form after her recent World Cup Final gold in Doha. She shot 39 in the final to clinch the junior women’s 25m pistol gold . Dwaram Pranavi won silver, while Palak of Haryana claimed bronze.

Parisha Gupta topped the junior qualification round, with Simranpreet finishing second on 578 .

In the team events, Maharashtra won the senior women’s team gold with a combined score of 1726. The Army Marksmanship Unit secured silver, while Haryana finished third. The junior women’s team gold also went to the Army Marksmanship Unit, with Delhi and Punjab taking silver and bronze respectively.
