Manipur PSC Issues 2026 Assistant Professor Notification, Apply Till January 19

Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) has issued a major notification inviting applications for 419 Assistant Professor posts in Government colleges under the Higher Education Department for the 2026 recruitment cycle. The notification, dated 5 December 2025, announces direct recruitment to Assistant Professor posts in various disciplines across Government colleges in Manipur, classified as Group-A services in the pre-revised pay band of Rs. 15,600–39,100 plus AGP Rs. 6,000. Vacancies are spread across subjects such as Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Education, English, Geography, History, Manipuri, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Statistics, Zoology and others, with specific reservation for UR, OBC, SC, ST and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Out of the total 419 posts, a portion has been earmarked as a special drive for ST candidates in subjects like English, Geography, Manipuri, Mathematics and Physics. Several posts in different disciplines carry horizontal reservation for PwBD categories including blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, locomotor disability, autism spectrum disorder, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabilities, in line with prevailing norms.

Candidates must be Indian citizens, permanent residents of Manipur and able to speak Manipuri/Meitei (Meetei lon) or any tribal dialect of the state. The essential academic requirement is a Master’s degree with at least 55 per cent marks (with applicable relaxations) in the concerned subject along with NET/SET/SLET, or exemption through a PhD awarded as per UGC Regulations 2009/2016, with additional conditions for those registered prior to 11 July 2009. The age limit is 21–38 years as on 19 January 2026, with relaxations for SC, ST, OBC and Persons with Disabilities as per rules.

The selection procedure will follow UGC Regulations 2018 and Government of Manipur orders, with an academic score (Appendix-1/Table-3) used only for shortlisting candidates for interview. The final selection will be based solely on performance in the interview, while candidates must also submit details of research publications, teaching or post-doctoral experience and awards in the prescribed format for academic scoring.

Applications can be submitted only through online mode at www.empsconline.gov.in from 15 December 2025 up to 11:59 pm on 19 January 2026, after which the link will be disabled. The application fee is Rs. 600 for General and OBC candidates and Rs. 400 for SC and ST candidates, while Differently Abled Persons are exempt from fee payment. Candidates in service, ad hoc, contract or guest faculty positions must upload a No Objection Certificate, and hard copies of specified research and award documents along with Annexure-A and the system-generated application printout must reach the MPSC Secretary on or before 19 January 2026.
