Mani Ratnam Eyes Dhanush and Suriya for an Exciting Multi-Starrer
Tamil cinema could witness an exciting collaboration as Dhanush and Suriya are reportedly being considered for a multi-starrer film directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam. If finalised, the project would mark the first time the two leading actors share screen space in a full-fledged film.
According to reports, Mani Ratnam has developed a script featuring two powerful lead characters and approached both actors for the main roles. Dhanush and Suriya have reportedly expressed interest in the project, with initial discussions said to be underway. However, negotiations regarding their remuneration, shooting schedules and availability of dates are yet to be completed.
The proposed film could potentially become Suriya's 49th project (Suriya 49), following his upcoming 48th film. For Dhanush, it could be his 57th film (D57) after completing D56, directed by Tamilarasan Pachamuthu.
Suriya has previously collaborated with Mani Ratnam in the 2004 film 'Aayutha Ezhuthu', which also featured R. Madhavan and Siddharth. However, this would be Dhanush's first association with the celebrated filmmaker.
Meanwhile, Suriya is reportedly shooting for director TJ Gnanavel's upcoming film and is preparing for the release of 'Scene' on November 6. Dhanush is occupied with D56 and is also reportedly considering a collaboration with director Siva. His 'OM: Chapter 1' co-starring Mammootty is scheduled for release on November 20.
Mani Ratnam has recently completed shooting for his next film, 'Inji Vellam', featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi. With music composed by A.R. Rahman, the romantic drama is expected to reach theatres in January 2027.
Despite the growing buzz, the proposed Dhanush-Suriya collaboration remains unconfirmed. Fans are awaiting an official announcement from the actors or the filmmaker.
