Mandhana Holds 2nd, Harmanpreet Jumps to 14th in ICC Women’s T20I Rankings

India’s Smriti Mandhana retained her second spot in the latest ICC women’s T20I rankings for batters, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur climbed to 14th position, according to the update released on Tuesday. Shafali Verma was the other Indian in the top 10, holding on to sixth place , while Jemimah Rodrigues remained joint 11th .

Among bowlers, India’s spin all-rounder Deepti Sharma rose one spot to third , and pacer Renuka Singh Thakur retained her sixth place . Seamer Arundhati Reddy , however, slipped from the top 10 to 11th . Deepti Sharma also climbed to third in the all-rounders’ rankings.

Internationally, Australia opener Georgia Voll entered the top 10 in batting for the first time, while New Zealand’s Sophie Devine moved up two places to 18th , following two consecutive half-centuries against South Africa.

The rankings, which included performances from the first two matches of the West Indies series, also saw 15-year-old Fanny Utagushimaninde of Rwanda enter at 66th position after becoming the first woman to score a T20I century on debut and the youngest player of either gender to achieve the feat. Another emerging talent, Annerie Dercksen , the ICC Emerging Player of the Year 2024, advanced 18 places to 55th after an unbeaten 55 in New Zealand.

Other notable batting gains included Ellyse Perry (Australia) rising to 20th , Qiana Joseph (West Indies) jumping 14 places to 33rd , Maddy Green (New Zealand) to 44th , and Stafanie Taylor (West Indies) to 48th .

In bowling, South Africa’s left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba broke into the top 10 , moving from 11th to ninth after taking five wickets in three matches. Australia’s leg-spinner Georgia Wareham rose from 16th to 12th , while New Zealand’s Jess Kerr achieved a career-best 15th spot after eight wickets in four matches, including a series-clinching 3 for 16 in Wellington. Ayabonga Khaka (36th) and Kim Garth (44th) also recorded significant improvements.

This latest rankings update highlights a blend of consistency from established stars like Mandhana and Shafali, alongside the rise of emerging talents making their mark on the international stage.
