Man Wielding Weapon Near Ex-Prince Andrew's Home Arrested
A 39-year-old man has been charged after allegedly confronting ex-Prince Andrew near his home on the Sandringham Estate in eastern England, raising fresh concerns over the royal’s private security arrangements .
Norfolk Police said officers were called to the village of Wolferton on Wednesday evening following reports of a man behaving in an intimidating manner close to the residence of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the Duke of York. The suspect, identified by British media as Alex Jenkinson from Suffolk, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and committing public order offences.
According to British media reports, the suspect was allegedly wearing a balaclava-style mask when he approached Prince Andrew while the former senior royal was walking his dogs near Marsh Farm , his residence on the estate. Witnesses claimed the man shouted aggressively and moved toward Andrew before the duke and a private security officer quickly left the area in a vehicle. Some reports said the suspect attempted to chase the car on foot .
Police later transported the accused to the King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre , where he was questioned in custody. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the exact nature of the weapon allegedly recovered.
Jenkinson has since been charged with threatening or abusive behaviour causing harassment or distress, along with failing to provide a blood specimen while in custody. He is expected to appear before Norwich Magistrates’ Court .
The incident has reignited debate over Andrew’s security after he lost taxpayer-funded protection following his withdrawal from official royal duties amid controversies linked to Jeffrey Epstein .
