A 35-year-old man was trampled to death by a herd of wild elephants in Jharkhand’s Koderma district on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred in Kataiya village under the Satgawan police station limits . The victim, identified as Rohit Yadav, was reportedly attempting to drive the elephants away from his agricultural field when the tragedy struck.

According to police, Yadav slipped and fell during the attempt, following which he was attacked and trampled by the animals. He died on the spot due to the severe injuries sustained.

Authorities have sent the body to Sadar Hospital in Koderma for a post-mortem examination. Further details are awaited as officials continue their inquiry into the incident.

The region has witnessed recurring instances of human-elephant conflict, particularly during crop seasons when herds venture into farmlands in search of food.
