Man Beheads Wife, Roams With Severed Head In Chhattisgarh’s Korba Before Surrendering

A 58-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife after a domestic dispute in Bundeli village in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district , and was later seen roaming through the village carrying the severed head , before eventually surrendering to police, officials said on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening under the Rajgamar police outpost limits . The accused, identified as Salik Ram Yadav , worked as a watchman at a local poultry farm where he lived with his wife.

Police said Yadav allegedly attacked his 50-year-old wife with a sharp meat-cutting weapon after a heated argument at their residence. Officials said he was under the influence of alcohol when the dispute escalated into a brutal assault that killed the woman on the spot .

In a shocking sequence of events, the man was reportedly seen walking around the village holding the severed head in one hand and the weapon in the other , leaving residents horrified. He later placed the head and the weapon inside a plastic sack , leaving the torso at the scene.

The accused then walked to the Rajgamar police outpost and surrendered , where he was taken into custody. During questioning, he reportedly told investigators that frequent marital disputes had been occurring , claiming his wife often suspected his character , which led to repeated arguments.

According to police, the couple originally belonged to Ajgarbahar Haldimada village in Korba block and had been working at the poultry farm for nearly three years. They have four children , and reports suggest some of the children were present at home when the incident occurred, which has further shocked the local community. While officials have not issued any formal statement on their current whereabouts, they are believed to be under the care of relatives , as authorities have not reported taking them into custody or placing them under state protection so far.

The accused has been arrested and the weapon used in the crime seized , while the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination . Police said a detailed investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events leading to the killing.
