BJP leader and former MP Bura Narsaiah Goud on Sunday alleged that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had already accepted her defeat and was therefore displaying visible frustration. He made these remarks referring to an incident in Bhabanipur , where Mamata Banerjee abruptly ended her speech at an election campaign meeting.

In the Bhabanipur constituency , public meetings of Mamata Banerjee and opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari were held in close proximity. Accusing the BJP of deliberately creating disturbances using loudspeakers, Mamata halted her speech midway and left the venue. Reacting to this, Bura Narsaiah Goud said that the frustration displayed by Mamata Banerjee is evidence of her impending defeat . He further alleged that Mamata had relied on minority vote bank politics and “goondaism” over the past 15 years. He added that the people of Bengal are seeking change, which, he claimed, is “coming like a tsunami.” He also expressed support for the warning issued by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to TMC cadres.

Following Mamata Banerjee’s exit from the venue, agitated TMC workers reportedly moved towards the BJP meeting. Tensions escalated between the two groups, with slogans of “Jai Bangla” and “Jai Shri Ram” being raised. The Rapid Action Force and police intervened promptly and dispersed both groups. Suvendu Adhikari described the incident as proof of “TMC’s goonda raj.”

The election atmosphere in West Bengal has turned highly intense. In the first phase of polling held on April 23 , a record 92.35% voter turnout was recorded across the state. The BJP views this high turnout as an indicator of change. The second phase of polling is scheduled for April 29 , including Bhabanipur and other constituencies. The counting of votes will take place on May 4 .
