Malinga, Shivang Script SRH’s Narrow Win Over CSK
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered a hard-fought 10-run win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a tense IPL clash, with Eshan Malinga and Shivang Kumar delivering decisive spells.
Chasing 195 , CSK managed 184 for 8 , falling short despite a manageable equation of 84 runs from the last 10 overs. Malinga (3/29) stood out with his pinpoint yorkers and variations , while Shivang (1/18) extracted turn and bounce to choke the scoring rate.
CSK needed 18 off the final over, but Praful Hinge showed composure, conceding just seven runs and dismissing Jamie Overton , sealing the result.
The chase began aggressively with Sanju Samson’s first-ball six , but Nitish Reddy struck early to remove him. Ayush Mhatre (30 off 13) looked dangerous before a sharp catch by Heinrich Klaasen ended his stay. Ruturaj Gaikwad (19) fell soon after, leaving CSK at 66 for 3.
A brief stand between Sarfaraz Khan (25) and Matthew Short (34) kept hopes alive, but wickets at regular intervals including Dewald Brevis’ rash dismissal stalled momentum. Though Shivam Dube chipped in with 21, CSK couldn’t accelerate when it mattered.
Earlier, SRH posted 194 for 9 , riding on a blistering Abhishek Sharma knock (59 off 22), who raced to a 15-ball fifty. However, CSK fought back through Mukesh Choudhary , who removed Travis Head and Ishan Kishan in successive deliveries at the end of the Powerplay.
From a strong 75 without loss, SRH slipped, losing four wickets in quick succession. Heinrich Klaasen (59 off 39) then anchored the innings, ensuring a competitive total.
CSK bowlers Jamie Overton (3/37) and Kamboj (3/22) were effective in the middle and death overs, using hard lengths and wide yorkers to restrict SRH. Despite a strong start, SRH managed only 40 runs in the last five overs .
The result lifts SRH to fourth place , while CSK remain seventh , continuing their struggle in 190-plus chases .
