Major Fire at Ameerpet Coaching Hub, Swift Rescue Averts Tragedy

Panic gripped Ameerpet , one of Hyderabad’s busiest education hubs, after a major fire broke out on Friday morning at Aditya Enclave , a six-storey commercial complex housing IT coaching centres and retail outlets. The blaze reportedly began around 10:30 AM due to a short circuit in an electrical duct near the lift on the ground floor. Burning insulation and electrical cables produced thick smoke that rapidly spread through stairways and corridors, trapping students and staff on upper floors and causing breathing distress and confusion.

With classes underway, dozens of occupants were inside when the smoke filled the building. Many were stranded as exit routes became difficult to access, triggering panic among students in this densely packed training hub. Responding swiftly, teams from the Fire Department , police, and HYDRA Disaster Response Force launched rescue operations, navigating smoke-filled stairwells and using rope ladders to reach those trapped. Authorities confirmed that over 50 people and possibly close to 100 were safely evacuated, ensuring no casualties . Officials stressed that any delay could have resulted in a major tragedy given the intensity of the smoke and the building’s occupancy.

HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath visited the site and reviewed the rescue efforts, noting that burning wiring near the stairway caused heavy smoke accumulation that complicated evacuation. Additional response teams joined the operation, while fire and civic authorities worked in coordination to bring the situation under control. The incident has renewed concerns over fire safety compliance in Ameerpet’s congested commercial complexes, which attract thousands of students daily. Officials warned that strict action will be taken against violations, joint inspections will continue, and building owners must ensure safe electrical systems and unobstructed emergency exits. Although the fire ended without loss of life, it serves as a wake-up call on the risks posed by overcrowded urban buildings and the critical importance of safety preparedness.
