Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun Hail 'DC' as a Tamil Classic

Arun Matheswaran’s 'DC' is gaining further momentum at the box office and drawing praise from prominent stars across the South Indian film industry, with Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun joining the growing list of celebrities impressed by the film.

Mahesh Babu described the film as “original and outstanding”, praising Matheswaran’s direction, Anirudh Ravichander’s music and the performances. His appreciation was followed by Allu Arjun, who called 'DC' a “Tamil classic” and said every film lover must watch it. He praised Matheswaran’s filmmaking and Anirudh’s music, while calling the performances of Wamiqa Gabbi and Lokesh Kanagaraj outstanding.

The film marks Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut as Devadas, with Wamiqa Gabbi playing Chandra. Directed by Matheswaran and produced by Sun Pictures, 'DC' combines a romantic storyline with an action-driven gangster narrative. It released worldwide on August 7, 2026.

The praise has come alongside encouraging theatrical performance. On its 10th day, 'DC' reportedly earned ₹4.50 crore net in India, taking its India net total to ₹54.76 crore, while its worldwide gross crossed ₹84 crore. The film has also maintained a strong hold during its second weekend, with reports pointing to sustained audience interest.

The positive word-of-mouth has extended beyond Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun. Sivakarthikeyan called the film a “blast”, while filmmaker Vignesh Shivan also praised the movie and Anirudh’s music.

The growing appreciation from leading personalities, coupled with its box-office performance, is giving 'DC' a strong run in theatres and further spotlighting Matheswaran’s filmmaking and Lokesh’s transition from director to actor.
