Madrasa teacher arrested for sexually assaulting boy in UP's Muzaffarnagar

A 70-year-old madrasa teacher has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old student in Shahpur town of Muzaffarnagar district , police said on Monday.

The accused, identified as Iqbal , was taken into custody after a video of the alleged incident surfaced on social media , prompting authorities to initiate an investigation. Police said the clip brought the matter to light and led to swift action against the teacher.

According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Aditya Bansal , a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act .

“The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway ,” Bansal said, adding that police are examining all aspects of the case and gathering evidence related to the incident.

Authorities are also verifying the circumstances under which the video circulated online and are speaking with those connected to the madrasa as part of the investigation.

Police said appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing probe.
