Madanapalle Shaken by Brutal Killing of Seven-Year-Old
A shocking crime has sent waves of grief and anger across Madanapalle in Annamayya district , after a seven-year-old girl who went missing from outside her home was found murdered inside a neighbour’s house.
Disappearance Sparks Panic
The child, daughter of a handloom worker residing on Katlatapalli Road, was last seen playing in front of her house around 4:30 pm on Monday. When she did not return home, her family began searching frantically in the surrounding areas. As hours passed without any information, the distressed parents approached the One Town police station and lodged a complaint.
Police teams immediately launched a search operation and began examining CCTV footage from nearby houses and commercial establishments. During the review, investigators reportedly identified visuals showing a man living in the neighbourhood leading the girl into his house.
Grim Discovery Inside Neighbour’s House
Acting swiftly on the CCTV evidence, police conducted a search of the suspect’s residence. In a horrifying development, the child’s lifeless body was discovered concealed inside a drum within the house. The discovery left residents stunned and plunged the locality into mourning.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused may have sexually assaulted the minor before strangling her. Police suspect that the body was hidden inside the drum in an attempt to destroy evidence and avoid suspicion. The accused was taken into custody, and further forensic examination and questioning are underway to establish the sequence of events.
Political Reactions
The incident triggered sharp political reactions, with leaders of the YSR Congress Party strongly condemning the crime. They alleged that law and order in the state has deteriorated under the present coalition government and claimed that women and children are increasingly vulnerable.
The opposition leaders criticised the alleged weakening of the Disha Police system and the Disha app, mechanisms introduced during the previous administration to strengthen women’s safety. They argued that a more alert and effective safety framework could help prevent such tragedies.
They demanded that the case be tried in a fast-track court and that the accused be awarded the harshest possible punishment. The party also called on the government to provide substantial financial compensation to the victim’s family.
