M. K. Stalin declares ₹6.26 Cr assets, files nomination from Kolathur

M. K. Stalin , president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), on Monday filed his nomination papers from the Kolathur constituency for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled on April 23, declaring total assets exceeding ₹6.26 crore .

According to the affidavit notarised on March 30, the 72-year-old leader reported movable assets worth ₹3.30 crore and immovable assets valued at ₹2.96 crore . His immovable holdings include self-acquired properties worth ₹2.70 crore and inherited assets amounting to ₹25.98 lakh.

His wife, Durga Stalin, declared movable assets of ₹1.32 crore and immovable assets worth ₹2.11 crore . Notably, her movable assets have witnessed a significant rise compared to previous disclosures.

For the financial year 2024-25, Stalin reported a total income of ₹30.94 lakh. His income sources include his salary as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, interest earnings from bank deposits, and royalties from books. His spouse declared an annual income of ₹5.33 lakh, primarily from rental earnings.

The affidavit also states that Stalin has no pending criminal cases and has not been convicted in any matter. He further declared zero liabilities , with no outstanding loans or dues to banks, financial institutions, or government bodies.

Under educational qualifications, Stalin noted that he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Madras, completed in 1973. His profession is listed as “Public Service.”

A comparison with his 2021 election affidavit shows a decline in his movable assets , which stood at ₹4.94 crore at the time, while his immovable assets have increased from ₹2.24 crore to ₹2.96 crore in the current election cycle. Meanwhile, his wife’s movable assets have seen a sharp rise from ₹30.52 lakh in 2021 to over ₹1.32 crore in 2026.

Stalin is seeking re-election from the Kolathur constituency, a seat he has represented in previous Assembly terms.
