Lucknow Lawyer Dies by Suicide After Allegedly Shooting Himself at Residence

A 40-year-old lawyer allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself at his residence in the Aliganj area of Lucknow , police said on Friday.

According to police, the incident took place late on Thursday night at a house located in Sector-G, Aliganj . Information about the incident was received through Dial-112 around 10.35 pm .

In a statement, Lucknow Police said the caller, identified as Shalini Singh , informed authorities that her brother, Shailendra Pratap Singh , had allegedly shot himself at their residence.

Police personnel rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert. Family members shifted Singh to the Trauma Centre in an ambulance, where doctors declared him dead.

Officials said the exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained . Police are questioning family members and examining all possible angles to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.

The Station House Officer of Aliganj police station , along with other police personnel, remained present at the scene as legal formalities were carried out.

Police said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination and a detailed investigation is underway.
