A fresh controversy has erupted within the Lucknow Police Commissionerate after constable Sunil Kumar Shukla released a third video alleging systemic corruption, harassment, and exploitation within the police force, while appealing to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for justice.

In the latest video, Shukla claimed that police personnel visited his residence late at night to intimidate his family after his earlier allegations against senior officials went viral on social media. Questioning the department’s actions, he asked whether he was being treated “like a criminal or a Naxalite” for raising concerns about corruption.

Shukla alleged that a “corrupt feudal system” was operating within the commissionerate and claimed that constables and head constables were allegedly forced to pay around Rs 2,000 every month to secure favourable postings and assignments. According to him, the money was passed up the chain of command to senior officers.

The constable, a science graduate from the University of Allahabad who joined the force in 2015, is currently on earned leave. In his video, he invoked freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and said he would not be mentally broken by pressure tactics. He demanded either an independent probe or the formation of a special committee to address corruption and irregularities within the police department.

The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has strongly denied the allegations, describing the claims circulating on social media as “false and baseless”. In an official statement, police said no raid or harassment of Shukla’s family had taken place and clarified that officers had only visited his residence to serve notices issued by an inquiry committee formed to examine his allegations.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav extended support to Shukla, calling him a “freedom fighter” and linking his allegations to the broader fight against corruption and oppression in Uttar Pradesh.
