Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma on Saturday reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness in the Kashmir Valley at a security review and coordination meeting in Srinagar.

The meeting brought together senior officials from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and intelligence agencies to assess security inputs and existing coordination mechanisms. Sharma reviewed inputs on the prevailing situation and operational readiness during the meeting.

The Army's Northern Command said Sharma stressed the need for enhanced inter-agency synergy, real-time intelligence sharing and integrated coordination to strengthen operational readiness and facilitate rapid responses during security operations.

The emphasis on coordination comes amid continuing counter-terror operations in the Valley. In a recent operation in the Korag area of Yousmarg, the Army, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police acted on intelligence inputs and killed a terrorist.

Senior Jammu and Kashmir Police officials, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Sujit Kumar, were among those present at the Srinagar meeting, along with Army and intelligence officials.

The review covered operational preparedness and coordination mechanisms, with authorities focusing on the exchange of intelligence and coordination between agencies involved in security operations.

The Northern Command said real-time sharing of intelligence and integrated coordination would help strengthen operational readiness and improve the effectiveness of joint operations.

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have continued operations based on intelligence inputs against terrorists and their networks. Such operations involve coordination between the Army, police and other security agencies, depending on the nature and location of the threat.

The Srinagar meeting also comes against the backdrop of continued security vigilance across the Valley. Officials are assessing inputs and operational requirements as part of ongoing efforts to maintain preparedness.

The Army's Northern Command did not announce any new deployment or specific operational measure following the meeting. The focus remained on strengthening coordination, intelligence sharing and preparedness among agencies responsible for security in the region.

The meeting concluded with emphasis on maintaining close coordination and operational readiness among the participating agencies.
