Food prices at hotels and restaurants across Andhra Pradesh are expected to rise following a sharp increase in commercial LPG cylinder rates. The Andhra Pradesh Star Hotels Association has said menu prices may go up by around 10 percent to manage escalating operational costs.

The Centre recently raised the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by ₹993 in a single revision. With this hike, prices in major cities such as Hyderabad have climbed to nearly ₹3,315 per cylinder . The increase is attributed to West Asia tensions and volatility in global energy markets.

In a statement issued on Friday, association president R.V. Swamy said the revision, effective from May 1 , has placed significant pressure on the hospitality sector. He noted that hotels and restaurants were already struggling with rising input costs, making it difficult to absorb the additional burden.

According to the association, commercial LPG prices have surged by about ₹1,303 over the past 3 months . It also warned that users of PNG (piped natural gas) are also facing rising expenses. Since gas is a key fuel in hotel operations, the continuous rise is affecting daily functioning.

Swamy further highlighted that the situation has worsened due to rising prices of sunflower oil, pulses, and vegetables, many of which have reached record levels. The cost of packaging materials used for takeaway and delivery has also increased, adding to expenses.

The association has urged the government to provide tax relief or subsidies. It also appealed to customers to understand the pressure on the hotel industry while maintaining service quality.
