Lovlina Borgohain has handed India its first medal at the Commonwealth Games, securing at least a bronze after receiving a direct entry into the women's 75kg boxing semifinals in Glasgow.

The Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist was awarded a first-round bye in a five-boxer draw, automatically advancing to the last four. Under the competition format, every semifinalist is guaranteed a place on the podium, ensuring that India has opened its medal account at the Games.
