L’Oréal to invest ₹3,500 crore in Hyderabad, set to launch global beauty-tech hub
French multinational beauty and personal care major L’Oréal has announced a ₹3,500 crore investment to set up its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, Telangana, marking a major expansion of its digital and technology footprint in India. The company said the investment will be made over the next five years , with the centre expected to be inaugurated in November this year and developed further during the same period.
The Hyderabad facility will be L’Oréal’s world’s first Global Capability Centre dedicated exclusively to beauty-tech , the company said. It will focus on artificial intelligence, data, digital platforms and advanced technologies that power next-generation beauty solutions. The project is expected to create around 2,000 highly skilled jobs , including roles for AI specialists, data scientists and technology engineers.
While Hyderabad has been confirmed as the location for the GCC, the company and the Telangana government have not yet officially disclosed the exact campus, technology park or site within the city where the facility will be established.
The investment announcement was made by L’Oréal Chief Executive Officer Nicolas Hieronimus on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. According to the company, the ₹3,500 crore outlay is planned through 2030 and is intended to support the development of the new global technology hub in Telangana.
The Hyderabad GCC will serve as a global innovation, technology, data and supply chain hub for L’Oréal, supporting its worldwide digital transformation initiatives. The centre will work as part of L’Oréal’s integrated global technology network, alongside similar hubs in France, the United States, China, Singapore, Spain, Poland, Canada, Brazil and Mexico.
Welcoming the investment, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said L’Oréal’s decision reflects the confidence global companies have in Telangana’s innovation ecosystem and skilled talent pool. He said the project aligns with the state’s “Telangana Rising: 2047 Vision” by creating high-value employment and strengthening Hyderabad’s role as a global centre for AI and digital excellence.
L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus said the company has been deeply committed to India for more than 31 years and is now leveraging the country’s strong technology and AI engineering capabilities. He said Hyderabad will play a central role in L’Oréal’s global digital and AI ambitions, as the company increasingly focuses on the intersection of science, technology and creativity.
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu described the project as a strong endorsement of Telangana’s ability to attract world-leading innovation and global enterprises. He said the state government would extend full support to international investors setting up operations in Hyderabad.
The Telangana government has also invited L’Oréal to explore manufacturing opportunities in the state in addition to the GCC investment. The company has expressed interest in evaluating such possibilities in the future.
Industry observers note that apart from the direct employment of 2,000 professionals, the project is expected to generate wider economic activity through support services and vendor ecosystems linked to large global technology centres.
