Filmmaker-turned-actor Lokesh Kanagaraj has completed shooting for his acting debut in DC , a gritty revenge action drama that reimagines the classic narrative of Devdas with a darker, violent twist.

Known for directing blockbuster films such as Kaithi, Master, Vikram, and Leo, Lokesh has built a strong reputation for crafting intense, stylish action dramas, making his transition to acting a highly anticipated move.

Backed by Sun Pictures, the film marks a significant shift for Lokesh, who steps in front of the camera as Devadas, alongside Wamiqa Gabbi playing Chandra. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, DC blends themes of love, crime, and revenge, promising a raw and intense cinematic experience.

Early promotional material has already generated buzz, showcasing blood-soaked visuals, brutal action sequences, and a haunting romantic undertone. Fans have described the film as a “bloody brutal thriller,” with anticipation building around its unconventional take on a timeless story. Adding to the excitement is the music by Anirudh Ravichander, whose score is expected to amplify the film’s dark, emotional core.

With filming now wrapped, the project moves into post-production and is eyeing a theatrical release in summer 2026.

Meanwhile, Lokesh shows no signs of slowing down. The director is also gearing up for another major project with Allu Arjun, following their previously announced collaboration after Raaka . The upcoming film is already generating significant industry interest, further cementing Lokesh’s position as one of the most sought-after creators in Indian cinema today.
