Lokesh Kanagaraj Makes Explosive Acting Debut With DC Trailer Launch at Cannes
Director-turned-actor Lokesh Kanagaraj made a striking acting debut as the trailer of DC premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, drawing strong reactions from fans and film circles alike. The trailer, unveiled ahead of its scheduled online release at 6 PM IST, introduced audiences to an intense world of romance, revenge and gang warfare.
Directed by Arun Matheswaran,* the Tamil action-romance stars Lokesh Kanagaraj in the role of Devadas, a rage-driven gangster caught in a violent love triangle with Chandra, played by *Wamiqa Gabbi, and Parvathi, portrayed by Sanjana Krishnamoorthy.
The trailer is packed with high-octane action sequences, including brutal hallway combat scenes, explosive chases and stylised gunfights, all set against the backdrop of gang rivalries. Music composed by Anirudh Ravichander has also emerged as a major talking point. The background score, described by fans as the “Raga of Revenge,” blends pulsating beats with Carnatic influences, elevating the trailer’s intensity.
Soon after the launch, social media platforms were flooded with praise for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s commanding screen presence and raw performance. Many fans expressed excitement about seeing the acclaimed filmmaker step in front of the camera for the first time in a full-fledged lead role.
The makers confirmed that principal shooting for DC was completed in April, with the film now gearing up for a grand theatrical release in 2026.
