Liechtenstein’s Prince Alois to Visit India to Boost Trade, Investment Ties
Liechtenstein’s Hereditary Prince Alois will begin a four-day visit to India on Sunday to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, science, technology and innovation, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
Prince Alois, who is currently serving as the acting head of the European nation, will be accompanied by his spouse, Princess Sophie, and a business delegation comprising prominent industry leaders.
During the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with Prince Alois to discuss economic cooperation, technological innovation and people-to-people exchanges. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global developments.
Prince Alois will meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honour. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will also call on the visiting leader.
This will be Prince Alois’s second visit to India in 2026. He travelled to New Delhi in February to attend the AI Impact Summit and had previously visited the country in 2010 and 2018.
The visit comes amid growing economic engagement following the implementation of the India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) in October 2025.
Signed in March 2024 after nearly 16 years of negotiations, the agreement brings together India and the four EFTA member states Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland to expand trade and investment ties.
Under the pact, the EFTA states are looking at investing USD 100 billion in India over 15 years.
The MEA said Prince Alois’s visit would provide an opportunity to deepen bilateral relations and develop partnerships in new areas of mutual interest. The participation of business leaders is expected to support engagement between companies in the two countries, particularly in trade, investment and emerging technologies.
