Telangana BJP celebrated Liberation Day at the party office under the leadership of Union Minister Kishan Reddy. On this occasion, Telangana BJP president Ramachander Rao hoisted the national flag.

Speaking at the event, he urged the state government to officially observe Liberation Day, stressing that it should not be linked to vote-bank politics. He assured that once BJP comes to power in Telangana, Liberation Day will be formally recognized and celebrated.

Recalling history, Rao said that till September 16, 1948, Hyderabad was under Nizam’s rule, and it merged with the Indian Union on September 17. Although India got independence on August 15, 1947, the Hyderabad State remained under the Nizam for another 13 months.

He said that under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Government of India launched “Operation Polo,” and the Indian Army entered Hyderabad on September 13, 1948. Within five days, the Nizam surrendered, and on September 17, the state officially became part of India.

Rao remembered the sacrifices made by Telangana people in the struggle, highlighting leaders like Ravi Narayan Reddy, Mallu Swarajyam, Chandrarajeswara Rao, and Shoaibullah Khan, who played vital roles. He added that many gave their lives for the movement.

He alleged that political parties were avoiding the celebration of Telangana Liberation Day for vote-bank politics. He noted that for the past three years, the Central Government has been organizing the official celebrations in Telangana.
