The Mumbai police have seized a Lamborghini after its driver was caught speeding at a shocking 252 kilometres per hour on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link , officials said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on December 12 , and an FIR has been registered against the driver, who has not yet been identified, after a video of the dangerous act surfaced online.

According to police, the video, recorded from inside the luxury sports car, showed the speedometer hitting 252 kmph as the vehicle sped towards the southern end of the sea link, overtaking multiple vehicles along the way.

Further investigation, including a review of CCTV footage , revealed that the same car had repeatedly violated speed limits in the area. Several challans had already been issued against it.

The Bandra-Worli Sea Link, with its smooth roads and long stretches, has increasingly become a destination for supercar owners to test the top speeds of their vehicles. This trend has resulted in several accidents involving high-performance cars, raising serious concerns about road safety.

The speed limit on the sea link is 80 kmph , and authorities confirmed that the driver breached both traffic regulations and safety norms.

An FIR was registered under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving. The car has been seized, and the police are continuing their investigation into the matter.

This latest incident underlines the dangers of reckless driving on one of Mumbai’s busiest roadways and the urgent need for stricter monitoring of supercars on public roads.
