India’s top shuttlers will look to regain consistency and end their title drought as Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu spearhead the country’s challenge at the USD 1,000,000 Singapore Open Super 750 , beginning here on Today.

Lakshya Sen, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion and last year’s Australia Open winner, will aim for a deep run after a first-round exit last week . He opens his campaign against China’s Lu Guang Zu, with expectations high following his runner-up finish at the All England Championships earlier this season.

In women’s singles, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will be under focus as she continues her attempt to regain elite form after injury struggles in 2025 . She begins against Indonesia’s fifth seed Putri Kusuma Wardani, after reaching the Thailand Open quarterfinals recently.

Young Indian shuttler Ayush Shetty, who impressed with a runner-up finish at the Asian Championships and a key role in India’s Thomas Cup bronze, faces Canada’s Victor Lai in a challenging opener.

Veterans Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy will also be in action as they search for form and consistency on the BWF World Tour . Srikanth meets local favourite Loh Kean Yew in a rematch, while Prannoy faces Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in a tough first-round clash.

In women’s singles, Unnati Hooda faces Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki, while Malvika Bansod returns from injury to take on Chinese Taipei’s Lin Hsiang Ti.

In doubles, India’s top pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, seeded fourth, open against the American duo Chen Zhi Yi and Presley Smith after reaching the Thailand Open final recently.

Other Indian pairs include Hariharan Amsakarunan–M.R. Arjun in men’s doubles, and Kavipriya Selvam–Simran Singhi, Rutaparna–Swetaparna Panda sisters, and Ashwini Bhat–Shikha Gautam in women’s doubles.

The tournament will be crucial for India’s contingent as they look to build momentum ahead of the next phase of the BWF World Tour season and convert promising runs into titles.
