
Lake suicide, kidnap case grip Hyd in two days of turmoil
In a tragic incident, a 28-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter died by suicide after jumping into Hussain Sagar Lake, police said.
The woman has been identified as Keerthika Agarwal, a chartered accountant. According to police, she was facing marital problems and had recently moved back to her parents’ house.
On November 3, Keerthika reportedly took her daughter to the lake and jumped in. The child’s body was found on Tuesday, while Keerthika’s body was recovered today. Police have sent both bodies for post-mortem examination.
An officer from the Hussain Sagar Lake police said, “Keerthika got married in 2021. Due to disputes with her husband, she started living with her parents. A missing case was filed earlier, and now a case has been registered for further investigation.”
Separate case: 10 arrested for kidnapping man, demanding ₹1 cr ransom
In another case, the Telangana Police arrested 10 people, including a woman, for allegedly kidnapping a man and demanding a ₹1 crore ransom in Hyderabad.
The main accused has been identified as M. Madhavi Latha, who allegedly planned the abduction of her husband, Mantri Shyam, with nine others. Police also seized three cars, two two-wheelers, and several mobile phones from the group.
Police said that a missing complaint had been filed by a woman named Fatima on October 29 at Amberpet Police Station. During the investigation, police traced the victim to Banjara Hills and arrested the suspects.
Both cases are under active investigation, officials said.
