KVR appeals for Integrity as Telangana Local Body Polls begin in Three Phases

In light of the upcoming Telangana local body elections, Kamareddy MLA Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy (KVR) urged the people of Telangana to reflect carefully and exercise their right to vote without succumbing to temptations like money and liquor.

Significance of Sarpanch Position

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA noted that people commonly treat Sarpanch elections lightly, considering only MLA and MP elections as major events. However, he emphasized that in his view, Sarpanch elections are most important.

"For change to occur at the village level, the Sarpanch and Ward Members are crucial. No matter how senior an MLA, MP, Minister, or Chief Minister is, when they visit the Gram Panchayat, the person presiding over the Gram Panchayat meeting is the Sarpanch... that is the greatness of the Sarpanch position," he explained.

He strongly appealed to the voters to vote only for an individual of integrity and honesty. He stressed the responsibility of voters to elect the right person who abstains from liquor and truly desires the development of the village.

Vote is the People's Weapon

KVR reminded the people that just as the people of Kamareddy elected him in the Assembly elections without expecting anything in return, they should now vote for a person of integrity in the current Sarpanch and Ward elections. He reminded the public that the vote is the people's weapon, and only by electing the right leader can village development be achieved.

Local Elections in Three Phases

The Telangana Panchayat elections are being conducted in a total of three phases for 12,769 Gram Panchayats. Approximately 1.67 crore rural voters in the state are expected to participate. Polling is scheduled for December 11, 14, and 17.

The first phase of polling will take place on December 11, from 7 AM to 1 PM, covering 4,236 Sarpanches and 37,440 Ward Members, followed by the counting of votes. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations for the second phase concluded yesterday, and the scrutiny of nominations for the third phase is currently underway. These elections have become a matter of high prestige for the ruling Congress party, as well as the opposition BRS and BJP.
