KTR Writes Open Letter to Rahul Gandhi Over Revanth Reddy's Remarks on Engineers

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his reported remarks describing engineers as " criminal waste." Calling the comments insulting to the engineering community, KTR addressed an open letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, urging him to publicly respond to the controversy.

KTR said the Chief Minister's remarks had deeply offended engineering students, teachers, and professionals across the country. He argued that at a time when Indian engineers are leading global technology companies and contributing to major scientific achievements, including space missions, such comments undermine the contributions of an entire profession.

In his letter, KTR urged Rahul Gandhi to distance himself from the remarks and demand an apology from the Chief Minister. He stated that remaining silent on the issue would be seen as endorsing the comments made by the Congress-led Telangana government.

The BRS leader also accused Revanth Reddy of repeatedly making derogatory remarks against young people and the academic community. He recalled an earlier instance in which the Chief Minister allegedly referred to university students as the " beer and biryani batch," claiming it reflected a pattern of disrespect towards students and youth.

KTR further said that Rahul Gandhi, who frequently speaks about democracy and the aspirations of young people, has a moral responsibility to respond when a Chief Minister from his own party makes such statements. He maintained that the Congress leadership should clarify its stand and ensure accountability.

Warning the Congress against alienating the youth, KTR said history has shown the political consequences of disregarding young people's sentiments. He also defended the role of teachers and engineers in nation-building, asserting that they deserve respect rather than disparaging remarks.

Demanding an immediate public apology from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR also called on Rahul Gandhi to fulfil what he described as his moral obligation by responding to the issue. He claimed that Telangana's youth would give the Congress an appropriate political response at the right time.
