KTR Urges BRS Cadre to Ensure No Eligible Voter Is Left Off Electoral Rolls

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday directed party workers to remain vigilant during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, stressing that the exercise should remove only duplicate and ineligible entries while ensuring that every eligible voter retains the right to vote. He called on the party cadre to assist voters throughout the verification process and ensure that no genuine elector is left out of the revised rolls.

KTR issued the directions while chairing a review meeting with the SIR Monitoring Committee at his residence in Nandinagar. The committee, led by MLC L. Ramana, briefed him on the progress of the voter list revision across Telangana and highlighted challenges being faced during the ongoing field-level verification exercise.

During the meeting, KTR expressed concern that lakhs of voters with incomplete records had reportedly been placed under the 'Notice' category, requiring them to submit additional information or documents for their names to remain on the electoral rolls. He instructed BRS booth-level workers, constituency in-charges and local coordinators to actively reach out to such voters, guide them through the verification process and ensure they complete the required formalities within the stipulated time.

While reiterating that duplicate, deceased, shifted and otherwise ineligible entries should be removed to maintain the integrity of the electoral rolls, KTR cautioned that the exercise should not result in the deletion of any eligible voter. He described the voter verification drive as a democratic responsibility and urged party leaders to carry it out in a mission mode.

He asked party functionaries to remain fully engaged in the verification process until August 3. KTR also directed them to closely monitor the claims and objections phase after the draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on August 10, so that omissions, errors or wrongful deletions affecting eligible voters can be corrected promptly.

The Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision is a periodic exercise aimed at updating electoral rolls by removing duplicate, deceased and shifted voters while facilitating the inclusion of all eligible electors. Political parties across Telangana have intensified voter outreach during the process, with electoral roll verification emerging as a key focus ahead of future elections.

The review meeting was attended by former ministers V. Srinivas Goud and Koppula Eshwar, MLC L. Ramana, former MLAs Gadari Kishore, Jeevan Reddy, Balka Suman, and other senior BRS leaders, who discussed strategies to strengthen voter awareness and support eligible citizens during the ongoing revision exercise.
