KTR Summoned: SIT Questions BRS Leader in Phone Tapping Probe

Former Minister and BRS Working President Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) concluded a seven-hour interrogation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the ongoing phone tapping case . Officials recorded his statement in full, after which he proceeded directly from Jubilee Hills Police Station to Telangana Bhavan .

Criticism of Congress Government

Ahead of the questioning, KTR launched a scathing attack on the Congress government , accusing it of indulging in “ drama politics ” and failing to govern effectively. Speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad , he asserted that for the past 15 years , he has dedicated himself to Telangana’s development , executing every responsibility entrusted to him with integrity . “We have never engaged in time-pass politics , nor involved families or children of political opponents. Resorting to false cases and harassment is not our culture,” he emphasized.

Highlighting Welfare Achievements

Highlighting the BRS government’s achievements under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao , KTR recalled welfare programs like Rythu Bandhu , Kalyana Lakshmi , and the KCR Kit , stating these initiatives brought tangible improvements to the lives of the poor . He added that despite opposition, these programs have positively transformed Telangana’s socio-economic landscape.

Telangana ‘A Stone in Madman’s Hands’

KTR criticized the current Congress administration , saying Telangana has turned into “ a stone in the hands of a madman .” He accused the government of failing to deliver on promises and misleading the public through daily dramas like Kaleshwaram , Gorrela Scam , Formula-E , and the phone tapping case . He reiterated that he has never engaged in any illegal or unfair activities , calling the allegations a politically motivated character assassination .

BRS Workers’ Protest at SIT

As KTR arrived at Jubilee Hills Police Station for SIT questioning , BRS workers staged a protest , surrounding his vehicle and chanting slogans against Revanth Reddy . Police deployed significant forces to maintain order. KTR described the SIT proceedings as “ time-pass ,” asserting that the Chief Minister has been conducting ongoing character assassination against him over the past two years .

SIT Investigation and Official Clarifications

The SIT is investigating Crime No. 243/2024 registered at Panjagutta Police Station , related to unauthorized phone tapping affecting thousands , including politicians , businesspeople , and journalists . Officials emphasized that the investigation is being conducted professionally , lawfully , and impartially , and warned against spreading false or misleading information . KTR complied fully with questioning and may be called again if required.
