KTR Slams Revanth Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Over Telangana’s Interests
BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has accused the Congress and BJP of compromising Telangana’s self-respect and State interests to satisfy their political leadership in Delhi. He alleged that both parties were prioritising positions and political ambitions over the welfare of Telangana. Taking a dig at Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, KTR remarked that he had become a “bouncer” for Union Home Minister Amit Shah, even pushing aside Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the presence of Priyanka Gandhi. He questioned the Centre’s contribution to Telangana, asking what Amit Shah had done for the State beyond visiting it and waving to people.
KTR also launched a strong attack on the Revanth Reddy government, alleging that its administration had been limited to selling government lands and criticising former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He accused the Congress of failing to fulfil its electoral commitments despite nearing three years in office. He recalled that the party had promised to implement all its guarantees within three months of coming to power but had failed to deliver on its assurances.
In a sharp personal criticism, KTR compared Revanth Reddy's leadership to appointing forest bandit Veerappan as the Forest Minister. He alleged that Telangana was witnessing a similar situation under a Chief Minister who was more interested in selling valuable public land than safeguarding the State's resources.
Defending the previous BRS government's record, KTR said the administration led by KCR had effectively utilised Singareni coal resources to establish new power projects and make Telangana a power-cut-free State. He alleged that the present government lacked the ability to utilise available natural resources efficiently.
He further questioned why the government was unable to lift available water for irrigation and generate adequate electricity despite sufficient coal resources. According to him, the Congress government's failure to manage these resources had pushed the State towards an energy crisis.
Meanwhile, the BRS announced that several Congress leaders had joined its ranks in the Serilingampally constituency. At a programme held at Telangana Bhavan, Congress Hydernagar division president Damodar Reddy joined the BRS along with his supporters in the presence of KTR. Hundreds of leaders and party workers joined the pink party by accepting BRS scarves, in what the party described as a boost to its organisational strength in the constituency.
