KTR slams Congress and BJP for ‘drama’ over BC bandh support

BRS working president and former minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a sharp attack on the Congress and BJP, accusing them of pretending to support the recent BC (Backward Classes) bandh in Telangana while “betraying BCs” at the national level.

KTR said that both national parties are “playing double games” - showing sympathy for BCs in the state but blocking their legitimate rights in Delhi. He asserted that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has been consistently fighting for BC reservations and will continue to do so until the rights of BC communities are fully protected.

He questioned the sincerity of the Congress and BJP, asking why their MPs and leaders have not resigned if they truly care about BC reservation issues. “You cannot fool the people by acting like supporters here and doing the opposite in Delhi,” he said.

KTR also announced that the BRS’s new political outreach campaign will begin from Jubilee Hills, symbolically marking a new phase in the party’s state-wide movement. The campaign aims to strengthen the party’s grassroots network and mobilize BC communities across Telangana. BRS leaders believe this move will energize the cadre and bring renewed momentum to the party’s activities.

The comments have stirred major discussion in Telangana’s political circles, especially as the state continues to debate the issue of BC quotas. The controversy stems from the Telangana government’s decision to implement a 42% BC reservation, which faced legal hurdles in both the High Court and Supreme Court. Despite the state’s push, the policy has yet to receive approval from the Centre - a point KTR used to highlight what he called “Delhi’s indifference to social justice.”
