KTR Keeps Promise, Brings Stranded Telangana Woman Back from Muscat
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has helped secure the safe return of a woman from Kodangal constituency who was stranded in Muscat after travelling abroad in search of employment. Fulfilling his assurance to her son that he would bring his mother home within a month, KTR facilitated the necessary intervention to resolve her passport-related difficulties and ensure her return to India. After reaching Hyderabad, Thuppudu Lakshmi met KTR at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday and thanked him for standing by her family during the crisis.
Lakshmi and her husband, Venkatappa, residents of Gokafasalwad village in Kodangal constituency, travelled to Muscat on February 27 hoping to find better employment opportunities. However, their expectations were shattered when Lakshmi was allegedly assigned work different from what the recruitment agent had promised. Her troubles intensified after her employer reportedly confiscated her passport and refused to facilitate her return to India.
The situation became more complicated when the agent who had arranged their employment abroad allegedly stopped responding to the family and demanded Rs 2 lakh to send Lakshmi back home. With her Wi-Fi and SIM services no longer functioning, she also lost regular contact with her family. After considerable difficulty, she managed to reach her son Raju through a neighbour's internet connection and informed him about her situation.
Unable to find a solution, Raju approached KTR on September 29 and explained the difficulties his mother was facing in Muscat. After hearing his appeal, the BRS working president assured him that he would address the passport issue and bring his mother back safely within a month.
KTR subsequently wrote to the concerned authorities and initiated steps to facilitate her return. The intervention helped Lakshmi overcome the obstacles and return to India safely, bringing an end to the family's prolonged uncertainty.
Following her reunion with her family, Lakshmi visited Telangana Bhavan to personally express her gratitude. She became emotional while recalling the support extended during the difficult period.
