KTR honors PJR as a true mass leader on his 18th death anniversary

P. Janardhan Reddy (PJR), a towering figure in Hyderabad politics over the past five decades, was remembered as a dedicated mass leader by BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on the 18th anniversary of his passing. KTR paid floral tributes at PJR’s statue at Khairatabad Chowrasta.

Speaking at the event, KTR highlighted PJR’s courage and commitment to the people, noting that even while the Congress was in power, PJR stood firm to protect the public interest. He recalled PJR’s historic campaign for bringing Krishna river water to Hyderabad, which helped quench the city’s thirst, and praised his lasting contributions to urban development and welfare for the poor. KTR said that if PJR had witnessed the development and welfare programs carried out under Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao after the formation of Telangana, he would have been deeply gratified. He added that the BRS government has fulfilled PJR’s vision for Hyderabad and encouraged future leaders - regardless of party affiliation - to draw inspiration from PJR’s dedication to public service.

KTR also praised PJR’s legacy being carried forward by his son, former MLA Vishnuvardhan Reddy, who has been actively involved in city welfare initiatives, including the development of the Pedamma Temple in Jubilee Hills.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also paid homage to PJR at Khairatabad Chowrasta, laying a floral tribute at his statue. Prabhakar described PJR as a committed mass leader who tirelessly worked for the welfare of the people. He praised PJR’s unwavering fight for public causes and his courage to stand by the people even while holding office, noting that his dedication continues to inspire both current and future leaders.

At Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud laid a floral tribute at PJR’s portrait, marking the anniversary with Congress leaders including Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Vivek Venkataswamy, and Azharuddin. Leaders recalled PJR’s lifelong commitment to fighting for the underprivileged and his relentless dedication to public service. They emphasized that his leadership, courage, and selfless service remain an enduring source of inspiration for today’s politicians.
