KTR Hits Back at Revanth Over Business Allegations, Cites 2009 Affidavit
BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) accused the Congress government of deceiving people across Telangana and alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had pushed the state into difficulties in the name of change. KTR was speaking at Telangana Bhavan during an event where Congress and BJP leaders from the Armur constituency joined the BRS. He welcomed the new entrants by presenting them with pink scarves.
KTR said farmers from Adilabad to Alampur were facing severe hardships, alleging that uninterrupted power supply was not even reaching six hours in many areas. He claimed farmers were struggling with delays in Rythu Bandhu, urea shortages and inadequate irrigation facilities. Recalling the KCR government, he said farmers could previously get urea delivered to their fields through a phone call.
Accusing the Congress government of diverting attention from its alleged failures, KTR said its 420 promises and six guarantees remained unfulfilled. He criticised the commissions constituted over the Kaleshwaram project, power purchases, Formula E race and banking transactions, claiming they had failed to produce significant results.
KTR also criticised the government over the handloom sector, alleging that 35 weavers had died by suicide during the Congress government’s tenure. He claimed Bathukamma saree and school uniform orders had been cancelled and alleged that the government had failed to provide adequate financial assistance or insurance support to affected weavers.
Responding to Revanth Reddy’s allegations about his businesses, KTR said he had worked in the United States for six years before using his earnings to establish a business and hotel in 2006. He said details of his business interests were already disclosed in his 2009 election affidavit, questioning why the information was being presented as a fresh revelation. KTR said he currently had three hotels and would have expanded the business further had he remained outside politics.
KTR challenged the Chief Minister to agree to a judicial inquiry into the assets of both families, while rejecting allegations of wrongdoing against him.
He also questioned the implementation of Congress’s SC, BC, farmer and youth declarations, and alleged that welfare schemes such as KCR Kit, Bathukamma sarees, free power, Mission Bhagiratha and Rythu Bima had been discontinued.
Targeting the BJP as well, KTR alleged that several major promises made by the Narendra Modi government, including doubling farmers’ incomes and building a $5 trillion economy, had not been fulfilled. He concluded by asserting that KCR’s leadership remained crucial for Telangana’s welfare and that the BRS would return to power.
