The shocking death of a two-month-old baby during the Mallanna Swamy Jathara in Kummera village, Nagar Kurnool district, has left the state in mourning . Telangana Minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) called the incident a “heartbreaking and inhuman tragedy.” Visiting the grieving family, he said he came not as a politician , but as a father and a concerned citizen to stand by them.

Expressing deep sorrow over the baby’s death, KTR criticized the silence of the state government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy , as well as local MLAs and MPs, accusing them of indirectly supporting the perpetrators . He alleged attempts were being made to obstruct the police investigation and derail justice.

According to KTR, 20 to 25 attackers targeted Chandrakala’s family during the temple visit. Despite pleas to spare the infant, the assailants reportedly kicked the baby to death. He described the act as “abhorrent” and condemned the continuation of caste- and religion-based violence even today. He said the incident has deeply shaken Telangana society.

KTR demanded immediate and strict action, insisting that all eight accused be booked under murder charges and arrested without delay. If necessary, they should face the death penalty. He emphasized that justice must prevail without political interference and called on the media, politicians, and citizens to support the family until the case is resolved.

In solidarity, KTR announced ₹1 crore compensation for the family and promised to build a house with an additional ₹10 lakh. He also mentioned immediate financial aid of ₹1 lakh had already been provided. KTR thanked former Nagar Kurnool MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy and various community organizations for supporting the family during this difficult time.
