KTR criticizes CM’s lack of awareness on river water issues

Telangana’s BRS Working President and former minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) sharply criticized the state government for its lack of understanding on river water and irrigation issues, saying ministers’ ignorance is causing serious harm to farmers. He made these remarks during a felicitation event organized for newly elected sarpanches, vice-sarpanches, and ward members at the BRS party office in Nalgonda, where he also addressed party cadres and offered guidance.

KTR alleged that the Congress government is unable to answer questions on irrigation projects and Krishna river water issues. Instead, it is resorting to diversionary tactics like filing cases and issuing notices to shift public attention. He emphasized that the BRS will not be intimidated by threats or legal notices.

Challenging the government, KTR said officials should stop indulging in “time-pass politics” and publicly clarify the cases they are filing. He also urged Home Minister to speak directly rather than leaking information behind the scenes. He criticized the government for focusing more on cases than public welfare.

Highlighting the state’s finances, KTR said the government has borrowed Rs 2.5 lakh crore in the past two years and questioned how this massive amount has been spent on development projects. He called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to release a white paper detailing these expenditures.

Expressing anger over the injustice faced by Telangana regarding Krishna river water, KTR said both the Chief Minister and the Irrigation Minister lack even basic knowledge about water issues. He pointed out that ministers often dodge questions in media interactions, claiming they are “unprepared,” which he said insults the public. He criticized them for being unable to discuss water issues intelligently.

KTR further pointed out that while the previous BRS government had completed 90% of the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project, the current government has failed to complete the remaining work. He said delays in submitting Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and reducing project scope are undermining Telangana’s interests.

Reiterating BRS’s commitment, KTR said the party would continue fighting for Krishna river water rights for farmers in Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts until justice is achieved. He publicly challenged the Congress government to conduct cooperative society elections and urged party workers to hold the government accountable in the public sphere.
