KTR Announces BRSV Protest Over NEET Row, Slams Police Action

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday announced his support for students protesting over the NEET examination controversy, saying he would personally participate in a BRSV-led demonstration at Indira Park in Hyderabad at 10 a.m. on Today. The protest has been organised to condemn the police action against students who demonstrated in Delhi over the issue.

Speaking to reporters in Warangal, KTR alleged that using force against students demanding justice was contrary to democratic values. He appealed to students, youth and the public to join the protest in solidarity with those seeking accountability and transparency in the handling of the examination issue.

The BRS leader also used the occasion to launch a sharp attack on the Congress government over the ongoing Globarena controversy. Rejecting allegations made by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, KTR said he had already issued a legal notice for defamation, maintaining that the accusations linking him to the company were baseless.

Questioning the government's stand, KTR asked why the Congress administration had entered into agreements with Globarena if it genuinely believed the company was his alleged benami entity. He asserted that the burden of proving the allegations rested entirely with the government and demanded a public apology from the Chief Minister if the claims could not be substantiated.

Stating that he had nothing to hide, KTR declared he was prepared to face any investigation, including a CID inquiry and even a lie detector test. He also challenged Revanth Reddy to agree to an independent SIT or CID probe into corruption allegations concerning members of his own family, arguing that impartial investigations—not political accusations—should determine the truth.

KTR further criticised the Chief Minister for allegedly avoiding direct confrontation with the Central government, claiming that Revanth Reddy seldom questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi despite criticising the Centre on various issues. He remarked that if the Congress was genuinely serious about challenging the Union government, it should have staged protests outside Raj Bhavan instead of elsewhere.

Escalating his political attack, KTR accused the Chief Minister of adopting a contradictory approach by publicly opposing the BJP while allegedly maintaining an understanding with the party behind the scenes. Reiterating his demand for evidence in the Globarena case, KTR said he remained open to any inquiry and insisted that the government should demonstrate the same level of transparency. He added that another legal notice had also been served on the Chief Minister over the remarks.
