KSRTC Bus Crash on Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway Leaves Two Dead, 24 Injured

Two people were killed and 24 passengers injured after a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus crashed on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway in Karnataka on Saturday morning, police said.

The accident occurred in the Bidadi area of the expressway near Avaragere Gate. The deceased were identified as Arun N M, the bus driver, and Midilesh K, the conductor. Both succumbed to their injuries following the crash.

The KSRTC bus was travelling from Kozhikode when the accident occurred. According to a preliminary investigation, the driver may have dozed off while driving, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

The bus reportedly veered to the left and collided with a large roadside signboard installed along the expressway. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn on the road.

A total of 24 passengers were injured in the accident. They were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment and were reported to be in stable condition, a senior police officer said.

The accident briefly disrupted traffic movement on the busy Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. Police have registered a case and launched a further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The number of injured passengers was initially reported as 14, but authorities later revised the figure to 24.
