
Krishna district bags 4 Swachh Andhra Awards
Krishna district has emerged as a significant recipient of these awards, securing four state-level honors. The district was recognized for having the cleanest village panchayat in Challapalli, the cleanest farmer’s market in Movva, the cleanest hostel at the BC Hostel in Dawajigudem, and the cleanest industry at the Krishna District Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Union Limited. In addition to these state-level awards, Krishna district also garnered 44 district-level awards across various categories, underscoring the district’s comprehensive efforts in improving sanitation, cleanliness, and public health outcomes. District Collector D.K. Balaji highlighted these achievements during a press conference, emphasizing the district’s commitment to the objectives of the Swachh Andhra Swarnandhra programme.
The Swachh Andhra Awards, introduced by the Andhra Pradesh government, aim to recognize and promote excellence in cleanliness and sanitation across the state. These awards are part of the broader Swachh Andhra Swarnandhra programme, which envisions transforming Andhra Pradesh into a cleaner and more sustainable state by 2047. Visakhapatnam district also achieved notable success, winning a total of 51 honors, which included seven state-level awards and 44 district-level awards. Recognitions spanned multiple sectors, including urban local bodies, residential colonies, schools, and markets, reflecting a multi-faceted approach to sanitation and hygiene. Key highlights included awards for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation under the Swachh Survekshan category, Swachh SLFS recognition for Simhagiri Colony Mahila Samakhya, and Swachh Gram Samakhya recognition for Gorapalli in Pendurthi mandal, among others. These accolades demonstrate Visakhapatnam district’s commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and fostering sustainable environmental practices.
