Krishna Bhaskar takes charge as CMD of Singareni Collieries

Senior IAS officer D. Krishna Bhaskar has assumed the role of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a prominent government-owned coal mining company.

Krishna Bhaskar, who is currently serving as CMD of Telangana Transmission Corporation (Transco), has been given full additional responsibilities for leading SCCL by the Telangana government.

The appointment comes after the previous CMD, N. Balaram (an IRS officer), returned to his parent cadre. A 2012-batch IAS officer, Krishna Bhaskar has also served as the Special Secretary to Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Earlier in his career, he held the position of District Collector in Rajanna Sircilla and Siddipet districts.

SCCL is a joint venture run by the Telangana and central governments, with a 51:49 equity structure, and is a key player in India’s coal mining sector.
