“Korean Kanakaraju” Trailer: Varun Tej's Possessed Avatar Steals the Show

Varun Tej is gearing up to entertain audiences in a completely new avatar with Korean Kanakaraju, and if the theatrical trailer is any indication, the film is shaping up to be a refreshing blend of horror, comedy, action, fantasy, and emotion. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, the film stars Ritika Nayak as the female lead and is slated to hit theatres worldwide on August 7, 2026.

The much awaited theatrical trailer was unveiled amid cheers at a grand launch event held at AAA Cinemas, Hyderabad, in the presence of the film's cast, crew, media, and fans. The event witnessed an enthusiastic response, with the trailer receiving applause for its entertaining content and unique concept. The launch further amplified the buzz surrounding the film ahead of its theatrical release.

The trailer introduces Kanakaraju, a youngster from Penukonda in Rayalaseema, whose ordinary life takes a bizarre turn after he is possessed by a mysterious Korean spirit. The unusual premise instantly grabs attention as terrified villagers and curious locals try to communicate with the spirit, only to end up in hilarious situations because of the language barrier.

One of the trailer's biggest strengths is its comedy timing. Varun Tej, Satya, and the supporting cast deliver several laugh out loud moments, making the supernatural setup feel entertaining rather than scary. The comic sequences land well, and Merlapaka Gandhi's trademark style of clean comedy is visible throughout the trailer.

As the mystery unfolds, Kanakaraju, Ritika Nayak, and Satya travel to South Korea to trace the origins of the spirit.
