Konda Sushmitha Takes Aim at Revanth Reddy Over Parakala Seat
A fresh political confrontation appears to be taking shape within the Telangana Congress, with Konda Sushmitha, daughter of Minister Konda Surekha, openly challenging Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over the future of the Parakala Assembly constituency.
Speaking at her mother’s birthday celebrations at Pochamma Maidan in Hanamkonda, Sushmitha launched a strong attack on the Chief Minister, his family and the state government. She alleged that Revanth Reddy had begun sidelining Congress leaders and Bahujan communities after becoming Chief Minister, despite their contribution to the party’s victory in the Assembly elections.
Her most direct challenge concerned Parakala, where she objected to the reported decision to project Revoori Prakash Reddy as the Congress candidate. Sushmitha questioned how the party could decide its candidate when nearly two years remained before the next Assembly elections. She asserted that she would contest from Parakala and expressed confidence that she would win the seat.
Sushmitha claimed that Prakash Reddy had won the previous election with the support of her father, Konda Murali. Taking a direct swipe at him, she said he should resign now and challenged him to face another election even with Revanth Reddy personally campaigning for him. She declared that she would contest from Parakala and, if necessary, enter the race as an independent candidate. She also said she was confident of serving as the constituency’s MLA for 20 years.
Sushmitha further alleged that her family had supported Revanth Reddy during his political rise and claimed he had promised to make Konda Murali an MLC when he was PCC president. Questioning why the assurance had not been honoured, she asked why her father was being politically sidelined.
She also accused the government of showing greater consideration towards TDP members than Congress leaders and workers. In another serious allegation, Sushmitha claimed that a shell company had been created for Revanth Reddy’s brother and alleged that land worth ₹200 crore was transferred through it. She also questioned the appointment of Vem Narender Reddy as an adviser, asking what the government had achieved from his advice over three years.
Sushmitha said dissatisfaction was growing among Congress workers over the government’s functioning. Referring to a Hyderabad event where the photograph of Minister Ponnam Prabhakar was allegedly absent, she questioned the administration’s approach towards BC communities.
The Konda family had remained silent for a long time, she said, but warned Revanth Reddy against forcing them into a direct political confrontation.
